100 euro gold coin 2004

  • UNESCO World Heritage in Germany – Bamberg

In the years 2003-2004 and 2006-2008, a 100 euro gold coin will be issued in honor of German UNESCO World Heritage sites. (In 2005, the “2006 FIFA World Cup Germany” 100 euro gold coin will be issued.) In 2004, the town of Bamberg was honored, whose old town was included on the UNESCO World Heritage list in December 1993, as the 12th monument in Germany to be added. The image side presents an artistic interpretation of the theme of “World Heritage City Bamberg” through the illustration of the mountain town with the dominating features of the cathedral and the Michaelsberg. Together with the old town hall as a connection to the island town in the foreground, the familiar, unmistakable town view is successfully presented in the center of the coin, achieving depth and a sense of space.
