250th Birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
The image side depicts a portrait of Mozart, which is clearly illustrated and identifiable. The portrait’s highly dynamic expression, which is also reflected in the design of the German eagle on the value side, is impressive. The integration in the typography and design of the value side produces a contemporary and original graphical solution.

225th Birthday of Karl Friedrich Schinkel
The image side is made up of two elements: A kneeling male nude, placing a plumb line over a masonry wall; beneath this, in a separate section, the inscription in Roman type with the words: KARL FRIEDRICH SCHINKEL 1781 - 1841. The figural motif of the image side is taken from Schinkel’s relief slabs from the Berlin Bauakademie. It visualizes Schinkel’s program of education in architecture. The division of the value side corresponds very well to that of the image side. It features the classical coin eagle in a rich but very fine design with clear arrangement of the circumscription and the numbers. Overall this is a very successful design, which communicates much of Schinkel’s artistic body of thought through its precise design. It encourages the observer to independently reflect on Schinkel’s work. The artistic and technical execution is outstanding.

800 Years of Dresden
The artist has handled the theme of the “800 Years of Dresden” very well. In the realistic development of the motif, the historic buildings that characterize the urban landscape are shown in a very successful combination with the river. At the same time, the artist was able to include the city’s destruction and reconstruction, which are part of its legend, in the reflection in the river in the center of the coin. The German eagle on the value side is artistically successful and harmonizes with the image side.

650th Anniversary of the Hanseatic League of Cities
The design impresses with its clear and easily comprehensible implementation of the theme. The use of additional design elements, such as people, architecture, water, extends the motif of the cog in a way that corresponds to the dynamics and vitality of the Hanseatic League and reflects the current development of Europe out of the past. The composition and design of the eagle side harmonizes with the image side in an ideal manner.
